Aker Brygge

General information

Aker Brygge is a popular place in Oslo, offering a unique and urban mixture of great shopping, restaurants and cafes. Shops, bars and restaurants dominate most of the ground level, while offices and some private homes are located above ground in the many buildings. The unique area is situated at the seaside in one of the most visited areas of Oslo.

Newly renovated, Aker Brygge is an urban part of the city with a mixture of classic and modern architecture with a magnificent view of the Oslo fjord.

For more than 100 years Akers Mechanic Shipyard had its factory here, where they built and repaired ships and later oil platforms. Today, the old factory buildings are part of the skyline of Aker Brygge and give the area a modern yet historic feel.

In summer, Aker Brygge is the perfect meeting place for people in the city. The promenade Stranden is milling with people at all hours of the day, either enjoying the sunshine at the marina or having dinner at one of the 34 different restaurants in the area.

SHOPPING
At Aker Brygge you can find 33 different stores, and over 30 restaurants and cafes. In addition you have a pharmacy, bank, real estate agencies, dentist, medical center, hairdresser, fitness center and a marina for travellers coming with boats.

The stores are mainly focused on fashion, trends and design, but you will also find flower shops, shoe stores, jewelers, bookstores and grocery stores. The stores are placed in an indoor shopping street with entrances from both the inside and the outside. Here you can find a unique mix from concept stores such as Milla Boutique and Mardou & Dean, to well-known brands such as COS and Tiger of Sweden. In addition the shopping area has several pop-up stores where you will find a new designer or brand every month.

Whether it’s a boat show, food festival, art exhibition or fashion show, Aker Brygge is a highly attractive location for events. The focus on art and fashion is a new initiative, and the area is emerging as a hot place for the up and coming creatives.
